## When departments speak different languages

Creative and technical teams often work on the same project but speak different languages. As an organization grows or adopts new tools, that gap shows up as friction, rework and tired teams. What's missing is rarely technical skill; it's someone who connects the people involved.

## Experience on four continents

Growth, new technology and tight deadlines can stretch any team. I have led through that in Los Angeles, Mumbai, Vancouver, Madrid and Sydney. That includes 13 years at Rhythm & Hues and six years in senior management at Image Engine, where the studio grew from 165 to 300 people. It also includes building and restructuring technology teams at SPA Studios and Flying Bark Productions.

- Head of Technical Production at Image Engine in Vancouver \(2014–2020\). I led software support and CG supervision teams of about 20 people while the studio grew from 165 to 300 staff. These teams supported projects including Chappie, Logan and The Mandalorian S1–S2.

- 13 years at Rhythm & Hues \(1997–2010\), progressing from CG artist to sequence supervisor on 20+ films including The Chronicles of Narnia, Happy Feet and The Golden Compass. This included one year leading a cross-cultural team in Mumbai.

- Director of Technology at SPA Studios in Madrid and at Flying Bark Productions in Sydney. Executive MBA from the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, and a Certificate in Change Management from IMD Lausanne \(2026\).
